Privacy Policy

This policy explains what LangTrack ("we", "us") collects when you use the LangTrack web app at app.langtrack.app, this website (langtrack.app) and the blog (blog.langtrack.app), why, who helps us process it, and what you can do about it. If anything here is unclear, write to contact@langtrack.app.

What we collect

Account

• Your email address and a password (the password is handled by Firebase Authentication; we never see it in plain text).
• If you sign in with Google: the name, email address and profile picture Google shares with us.

What you put into the app

• Your name or nickname, the languages you speak and learn, your levels, goals and settings (for example interface language and theme).
• Your study log: date, minutes, language, activity, and anything you add to an entry, such as a note, the title of a show, book or video, or a link you paste.
• Totals we calculate from your log (hours per language, streaks, milestones).

Usage and device information

• Which pages and features you use, the actions you take (for example adding an entry or opening a goal), errors, and how fast the app responds on your device.
• Session recordings: in the web app we record how pages change as you use them, including taps and the text you type into forms, so we can find and fix problems. Passwords and payment card fields are never recorded. Recordings are not made on low-end devices or slow connections.
• Technical details such as browser and device type, screen size, connection type, language, approximate location derived from your IP address, and the page or campaign that brought you to us.

Payments

If you subscribe to Pro, payment is handled by Stripe through RevenueCat. We receive your subscription status (plan, renewal date, trial and cancellation state), not your card details.

How we use it

• To run the app: store your log, show your goals, streaks and stats, and keep your account working across devices.
• To manage subscriptions and give Pro features to subscribers.
• To understand how LangTrack is used and to fix bugs, improve features and keep the app fast.
• To answer you when you write to us, and to keep the service secure.

We do not sell your personal information, we do not show ads, and we do not use your study log to build advertising profiles. We don't currently send newsletters or reminder emails; the only emails you'll get are the ones you ask for (such as a password reset) and payment receipts from Stripe.

Who processes your data

We use these service providers, each only for the purpose described:

• Google Firebase (Google Cloud): sign-in and the database that stores your account and log.
• Vercel: hosts the web app.
• PostHog (United States): product analytics, error reports, performance measurements and session recordings.
• RevenueCat and Stripe: subscriptions and payments.
• Google Analytics: visitor statistics on the marketing website (langtrack.app).

Some of these providers process data in the United States and other countries outside your own. Where the law requires it, these transfers rely on the providers' standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and users.

Cookies and local storage

• Your browser keeps your sign-in session and some preferences (for example dismissed tips and cached settings) in local storage so the app works and opens quickly.
• PostHog sets a cookie on .langtrack.app, shared by the website, the blog and the app, so we can see which page or campaign led to a sign-up and count visits without double counting.
• Google Analytics sets cookies on the marketing website. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on.
• Stripe may set cookies during checkout to prevent fraud.

You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block local storage, you'll need to sign in each visit.

How long we keep it

• Your account and log: until you delete your account or ask us to.
• Analytics events and session recordings: for a limited period set in our analytics provider, after which they are deleted automatically.
• Payment records: as long as needed for accounting and tax law.

Your choices and rights

• Export: download your log as a file from Settings at any time.
• Correct: edit your profile, languages, goals and entries in the app.
• Delete: Settings → Delete account removes your account, your log and everything stored with it. You can also email us.
• Other requests: depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, restrict or object to processing and to complain to your data protection authority. Email contact@langtrack.app and we'll respond within 30 days.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and stored with our providers' encryption at rest. Access to your account data is limited by database rules so that only you can read and change it. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach that affects you, we'll tell you as the law requires.

Children

LangTrack is not meant for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we'll delete it.

Changes

We'll update this page when what we collect or how we use it changes, and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll also tell you in the app.
